ABOUT
This lecture & slideshow will explain the Life and Works of Francisco Goya from his early training to the time that he becomes the court painter to the Spanish Crown in 1786.
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes ( Fuendetodos , March 31, 1746 - Bordeaux , April 16, 1828 ) was a Spanish painter and engraver. His work includes easel and mural paintings, engravings and drawings.
Goya's style evolved from rococo, through neoclassicism, to pre -romanticism, but always his work was interpreted in a personal and original way. He continued to look to nature as a reflection of reality without an idealistic vision that embellished the truth. Goya always had an ethical message to his work because for him painting was a vehicle for moral instruction, not simply for aesthetics.
