Our feathered friends, the
Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus
ruber roseus) are back. For thousands of years, these
flamingos have made the Salinas de Calpe (the
flooded salt flats) their resting and feeding sanctuary on their
migration to Africa for the winter. Thanks to the efforts of local
caring nature lovers and the current economic crisis, the flamingos'
playground has been rescued from the hands of greedy property
developers. Calpe.
